Becoming a Professional Bookbinder

A picture of me, Haley, stopping for a coffee break at the Lit & Phil bookbinding club.

Hi Everyone!

What a… to be frank… wild 2 years it’s been. As a founder, I’ve been arrested (seriously!), sectioned (mhm!), and put up with endless amounts of ableism over my Functional Neurological Disorder.

This post isn’t about that.

I have been taken away from everything I love and now I say- enough is enough! I’m building out the ultimate business model for supporting real people. I’m going to work with individuals to write, bind, and sell their stories, regardless of what form they take. Some bookbinders bind in paper, for me, I’m happy to put my signature on anything. Just a little bookbinder joke, heheh!

I’ve put the funds together to start an independent bookbindery out of my house in Sunderland. I’ll be repairing books for free so long as they truly do need repairing. Otherwise, I’ll be paying out of pocket to replace any books that need replacing. Looking at you, unfortunate bathtime accident. It’s not your fault that you got your book wet, but it’s probably time to let a professional take care of it.

I am sick of what Britain is holding onto.

Grief, trauma, sickness… it’s all so heavy. Every culture and time has had their fabulist, and I’m here for my team- the British People. Think of me as your Mother Goose or Scheherazade- all I’m doing is collecting the stories of the United Kingdom so they may be united forever.

I don’t actually need much support at all! As long as you can trust me with whatever story you’d like to tell. I’m happy to help. You can usually find me milling around Sunderland, but when I’m over in Newcastle I frequent the Lit & Phil Society.

I’m going to use this blog to write about some interesting groups, share some stories, and generally have a good time. Feel free to check out my products- I’m expanding range rapidly! I’m in talks to publish someone’s entire story collection. That’s 70 brand new books coming to this store in 2026 if that goes through.

Got a story to share?

I do a flat 50/50 profit split. If that’s fine with you, get in touch. You can send mail to the address at the bottom of the page, email me, or even contact me on Discord if you prefer! I’m specifically interested in undertold stories. I will pay good money to the rights to write about your Minecraft server, or what you’ve been up to online. If it’s offline, even better- I’ll try and visit you regardless of where you’re at in the UK!

Alright, I think that’s enough yapping for me.

Have a very happy 2026!
